Cropping Manager - Lifestyle Roster

The Role
We're seeking a Cropping Manager to lead day-to-day cropping operations and infrastructure alongside the Farm Manager. This hands-on role is ideal for a motivated individual ready to contribute to one of the most sophisticated and diverse cropping operations in the region.

The Farming Operation
Merrowie Station is located just outside the charming town of Hillston, right on the banks of the beautiful Lachlan River, famous for its plentiful Murray Cod.
The station consists of three farming units: Merrowie, Sunland, and Brooklyn, covering a total of 33,000 hectares. This includes 11,000 hectares of arable land (both irrigation and dryland), 22,000 hectares of grazing country, 2,350 hectares of overhead irrigation via lateral move, and 5,500 hectares of surface furrow irrigation.
We grow a mix of crops including beetroot, cereals, cotton, pulses, and fibre, all supported by strong general security and groundwater entitlements. You'll also be working with near-new John Deere machinery alongside a skilled and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement best practice cropping systems in consultation with agronomists and the Farm Manager.
- Assist in planning and executing cropping programs aligned with yield targets.
- Monitor paddock conditions, crop health, and input usage.
- Coordinate field labour and cropping activities.
- Liaise with the irrigation overseer to optimise water use.
- Maintain machinery, infrastructure, and accurate records.
- Contribute to budgeting and capital works planning.
What we need from You:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role.
- Strong skills in GPS spraying, sowing, and harvesting.
- Sound agronomic knowledge and practical experience.
- Effective communication and record-keeping skills.
- Understanding of budgeting and procurement processes.
- Current driver's licence (HC desirable).
