Orchard Irrigation Hand (Hillston)

We have a brilliant opportunity with our client, Customised Farm Management (CFM) an independent agricultural asset management company. CFM manage numerous corporate scale agricultural assets across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Northern Territory incorporating orchards (citrus, almonds, pistachio, kiwi fruit) and a broad spectrum of cropping activities, from irrigated summer crops to winter dryland cereal cropping and livestock.
The Role
Merrowie Almonds located 18kms from Hillston NSW, are seeking an Almond Orchard Hand on the 703ha Orchard. The property consists of 11,000ha of arable farming land, 7,000ha of irrigation country and 22,000ha of grazing country. It also boasts some of the most productive soils in the Lachlan valley and combined with water assets and quality, presents an exciting opportunity for an Orchard Irrigation Hand to be involved in a newly developed orchard. Supported by the Orchard Manager, the applicant will conduct day to day operations as well as work alongside contracting operations as required. The application should have attention to detail & a basic understanding of orchard machinery & operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experience in almond or citrus irrigation and fertiliser application
- Tractor driving and mechanical aptitude
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Passion for agricultural technology and efficiency
- Computer literacy and willingness to adopt new tools
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Current driver's licence and chemical certificate (or willingness to obtain
What we need from You:
- Previous experience in almond production, irrigation and fertiliser (preferred).
- Strong communication skills.
- Well organised with excellent time management skills.
- Passion for new technologies
- Well-developed computer skills and a willingness to utilise technologies
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently
- Current Drivers licence (essential)
- Current Chemical Certificate (essential or prepared to obtain/renew)
- Telehandler licence (highly valued but not essential).
