Orchard Hand

Full time Long Flat NSW

Be part of something growing in the heart of the Mid North Coast! Located just 25 km from Wauchope and 45 km from Port Macquarie, this is a unique opportunity to join a developing kiwifruit orchard and help shape it from the ground up.

Customised Farm Management is an independent agricultural asset management company overseeing large-scale operations across Queensland, New South Wales, and the Northern Territory. Our diverse portfolio includes irrigated summer crops, winter dryland cereals, livestock, and permanent crop developments such as citrus, kiwifruit, almonds, and pistachios-placing us at the forefront of innovation in Australian agriculture.

The Role

This casual position is diverse and practical, suited to someone who enjoys outdoor work and being part of a close-knit team. You'll play an active part in the development and daily operations of a growing kiwifruit orchard - covering everything from vine care and orchard maintenance to irrigation and infrastructure upkeep. Covering 12 hectares under netting, with 9 hectares already planted, the orchard is progressing toward its first harvest in 2027. This role offers the chance to be involved in all stages of the orchard's growth and development. While prior experience isn't required, a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and attention to detail are essential. For the right person, there are genuine long-term career pathways within the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Kiwifruit orchard management including training and pruning vines, fruit thinning, and harvesting
  • General orchard maintenance including mowing, spraying, fertilising, and mulching
  • Assisting with orchard development and infrastructure maintenance
  • Basic machinery and equipment care and upkeep
  • Irrigation monitoring and maintenance
  • Contributing to new orchard development projects
  • Supporting other general farm and maintenance tasks as required

What We Need From You:

  • Enthusiasm to learn and a positive, proactive attitude
  • Ability to follow direction and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions

What We Offer

We offer a competitive hourly rate, a supportive and down-to-earth team environment, and the chance to be part of an orchard from its early stages through to harvest and beyond. You'll enjoy variety in your work, opportunities to learn new skills, and the satisfaction of contributing to a growing enterprise.
