Livestock Overseer

With a diverse portfolio spanning irrigated summer crops, winter dryland cereals, livestock, and permanent crop developments (Citrus, Kiwifruit, Almonds & Pistachios), they are at the forefront of innovation in Australian agriculture.
The Role
Merrowie Station is a 33,000Ha mixed farming property located 18km from Hillston, NSW, comprising 11,000Ha of arable farmland, 7,000Ha of irrigated country, and 22,000Ha of grazing land. Our livestock enterprise includes 4,100 Merino sheep and 270 Angus cattle, supported by modern infrastructure and a dedicated team. We are seeking a motivated Livestock Overseer to join us and work closely with the Farm Manager in the day-to-day care and management of livestock across the property.
This hands-on role involves assisting with animal husbandry, feeding, and health management, as well as supporting the maintenance of farm equipment and infrastructure. The successful candidate will demonstrate practical skills in livestock handling, fencing, and machinery operation, along with a strong work ethic and commitment to safety and animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate livestock operations and infrastructure maintenance
- Monitor livestock health, feeding, and water access
- Maintain accurate animal husbandry and stock movement records
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and vehicles
- Ensure farm presentation, weed and vermin control, and timely repairs
- Promote and comply with WH&S standards and environmental practices
- Contribute positively to company culture and teamwork
What We're Looking For:
- Deep passion for the agricultural industry.
- Livestock Overseer experience (Sheep and Cattle desirable).
- Experience in livestock coordination and farm operations
- Skilled in the use and maintenance of farming equipment
- Strong communication skills and a professional outlook
- Current driver's license (essential)
- Chemical Handling Certificate or trade qualification (desirable)
